This website was launched in October 2016 in an effort to connect with my mom’s father, an American soldier who served in Vietnam in the 1960s.

My family lost touch with him shortly before the war ended. We didn’t know his name, where he came from, or even his race. All we’re sure about is that he was stationed in or near Da Nang in the 1960s and had my mother in 1966.

With this blog, I hoped to track my progress in finding the identity of a man who has been shrouded in mystery throughout the course of my mother’s life. In doing so, I want to be able to share my findings as well as everything I learn in regards to fascinating subject of genealogy and ancestry…

…and I did that, and actually found him in January 2018 — almost two years to the day after I first told my mom about her genetic results.

I could shut down the blog and sit on my laurels but that’d be rude of me. After all, I’ve gained a lot of knowledge about ancestry and genetic genealogy since starting this journey, and there are plenty of people still out there who could use the knowledge.

So snoop around, sign up for my newsletter (the best damn genealogy newsletter ever), and gain some knowledge. Be sure to shoot me a message if you have any questions. I’d love to help.

Happy hunting!
